Bankia and the NGO Cards

Bankia offers a set of debit and credit cards provided with social dimension: The NGO Cards.
Bankia offers a set of debit and credit cards provided with social dimension: The NGO Cards. Besides delivering a financial service, they have an added value by contributing, through generated income, to projects from different non-governmental organisations (NGOs) or charitable associations and satisfying the needs of vulnerable groups such as the elderly, youth, and immigrants. Moreover, the NGO receives preferential treatment, since it does not pay any banking fee. Currently, there are over 400 NGOs supporting this programme.

In 2012, 206,000 cards were distributed. This was translated in practical terms into donations worth almost one million euro for the beneficiaries of the programme. Bankia donates 50% of the profit generated by their use in shops.

On the website www.bankia.es, under the tag “cards/NGO cards” there is a list of all the NGOs participating in this initiative.
