Erste Time Bank – The Volunteers Portal of Erste Bank and Sparkassen

Erste Bank Oesterreich and Erste Group Bank, together with their subsidiaries, as well as many of the regional Savings Banks (Sparkassen) take part in the Time Bank initiative which allows employees throughout Austria to volunteer time in their local communities.
Time Bank is based on the idea that money is not the only spendable currency in the world. Personal commitment and practical assistance are very often much more needed. Giving one’s time for a good cause is a very satisfying and humbling experience. Therefore, Erste Bank Oesterreich and Erste Group Bank, together with their subsidiaries, as well as many of the regional Savings Banks (Sparkassen) take part in the Time Bank initiative which allows employees throughout Austria to volunteer time in their local communities.

In 2015, Time Bank celebrated its 4th birthday. It supports 38 partner organizations and focuses on three areas:
  • Bringing together employees who want to donate their time to one of the partner organizations;
  • Organizing in-kind donations, such as toys and sporting goods, for partner organizations;
  • Providing support to partner organizations by disseminating information on their special events and fundraising activities.
The main focus in 2015 was supporting partner organizations in dealing with the refugee crisis in Austria. Time Bank provided employees with a comprehensive overview of organizations and initiatives in Austria that were looking for volunteers to help refugees. It collected 728 Vienna public transportation tickets for the Austrian Diaconate and organized a massive winter clothes collection which provided partner organizations with over 600 cartons of donated clothing items.

Erste Time Bank – it’s meaningful, it’s rewarding, it has perspective, it’s individually adaptable.
